Our History

Our story at West Coast Billiards Canada begins in 1986 with Brian Pickering and his venture, Yorkshire Billiards. Back then, Brian was passionate about introducing the unique Bar Billiards table to Canada, inspired by the traditional English pub game. Though his initial efforts saw limited success, his dedication laid the foundation for something greater. In 1991, Brian opened The Slate Room, a bustling pool hall with 14 pool tables. This was where his son, Simon Pickering, discovered his love for billiards. Forced to accompany his dad on service calls, Simon honed his skills and developed a deep understanding of the craft. Over the years, Simon's passion grew, leading him to represent Canada in national competitions and even winning the Grand Masters in Las Vegas in 2009. Today, Simon's journey fuels our brand and drives forward our goal of blending decades of expertise with a commitment to quality and local craftsmanship. Each table we create is the living proof of our rich heritage and passion for the game.
